The mission of the People and Water Project is to help towns and villages, primarily in the Carpatho – European region, solve economic, social, cultural and environmental problems. The project seeks to foster the principles of a civil society by promoting community participation in the development of tradicional culture of region, especially its traditional crafts.

In 1993, the Slovak Government planned to create an additional water supply resource in the form of a substantial reservoir. In response to this situation, the NGO People and Water proposed an alternative to the aforementioned project in 1994. This alternative proposal comprised of a comprehensive watershed restoration of water resources in degraded and desiccated ecosystems while respect the rights of inhabitants in historical villages to a quality and sustainable life. continue… »
